Dr. Glazer is an expert physician in general vascular surgery and hemodialysis access, in particular. He served as lead physician with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG) Continuous Quality Improvement Hemodialysis Access Committee from 1997 to 2007. He co-chaired Hemodialysis Access Symposia for Kaiser Permanente (KP) in 1998 and 2007. He was vice chairman of the SCPMG vascular surgery subspecialty committee from 2005-2006 and was the SCPMG representative on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) National Vascular Access Improvement Initiative (Fistula First) Clinical Practice Task Force in 2007. Since 1982, he has taught resident physicians from the University of California, Irvine and became a volunteer Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery in 2009. He continues to contribute to the wider medical community with numerous organizations giving lectures on dialysis access. Dr. Glazer has been practicing dialysis access surgery in Lancaster, California as an emeritus partner for KP since 2009.
Born to Benjamin and Lucille Glazer in Decatur, Illinois, Dr. Glazer graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1970, and earned an MD from the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine in 1974. He was certified for general surgery by the American Board of Surgery, and is a diplomate of the Medical Board of California. He did vascular fellowship training with Dr. Max Gaspar with the University of Southern California in 1980. Dr. Glazer joined KP as a partner physician in vascular and general surgery in Anaheim, California and practiced from 1982 to 2008. He served as the president of the Orange County Surgical Society in Anaheim from 2001 to 2002. He has published a number of articles in professional journals.
Dr. Glazer is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Society of Clinical Vascular Surgery, the Southern California Vascular Surgical Society, the Vascular Access Society of the Americas, the Society for Vascular Surgery, and Alpha Omega Alpha. He has been honored with a 2005 Physician of Excellence award from the Orange County Medical Association and a 1997 Physicians' Exceptional Contribution Award from the SCPMG. Dr. Glazer was selected for inclusion in six volumes of Who's Who in America, two volumes of Who's Who in the World, and the 2008 to 2009 volume of Who's Who in Science and Engineering. He married Dr. Janice Lysiak in 1977, and they enjoy traveling.
