GLADWYNE, PA, August 09, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Thomas Howard Fitchett Stick a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mr. Stick celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Stick is an architect with 57 years in the industry, a humanitarian, and a Knight of Malta with membership in chivalric orders going back hundreds of years. He has built award-winning facilities for some of the most well-known companies in America as a corporate architect, and is building a future for the people who benefit from his leadership as a president of the F-S Foundation, a non-profit philanthropic organization. He also had residential projects in Maryland, New Hampshire, Maine and Pennsylvania.
A graduate of Calvert School and Gilman School in Baltimore, though Mr. Stick initially earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Yale University and belongs to the Yale Club, he found his life's calling as an architect when he set out to design his own home. Exterior design led to interior design, ultimately taking Mr. Stick to postgraduate studies at the Maryland Institute and the Graduate School of Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. As an architect, Mr. Stick started at Vincent G. Kling & Partners in 1964 in Philadelphia. After ten years he moved to a position with B.J. Hoffman & Associates in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. In 1975 he became a founding partner of Grim & Stick in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. He went on to become the principal of Stick Associates in 1977. In 1980 he became corporate architect for Gino's Inc. In 1981, he managed construction administration for Ballinger Co., and in 1984 accepted a post as senior construction claims consultant at MDC Systems Corp.
In 1985, Mr. Stick moved to a position with the engineering, construction, staffing and defense firm of Day & Zimmermann, International, where he served as chief architect, discipline manager, and corporate architect, ultimately serving as a director from 2000 to 2003. Mr. Stick has been a part of the major expansion of the Philadelphia airport, the IBM headquarters in New Jersey, and a Pepperidge Farms food plant, for which he was named 1992 Architect of the Best Food Plant of the Year by Food Engineering Magazine. He is a registered architect in 22 states and the People's Republic of China. He participated in designing the Pencader satellite campus for the University of Delaware, several Anheuser Busch Brewery modifications and multiple DuPont International lycra facilities. In 1972, Mr. Stick also was honored with a one-man photography show at the Eastern Camera Gallery. His legal claims background is put to good use when he serves as a construction litigation consultant.
As a highlight of his career, Mr. Stick is most proud of his work on the Frito Lay/Lays facilities, where he designed shared aspects and a communal entrance for both management and other employees. Prior to his design, the two groups entered separately. Ultimately, people from different departments united as one team, wearing coordinated I.D. shirts, and Mr. Stick felt gratified that the architecture had motivated such a morale and staff unification change.
Mr. Stick has acquired many memberships in architectural societies over the years, including the American Institute of Architects, the Pennsylvania Society of Architects, the Building Officials and Code Administrators International, the International Conference of Building Officials, the Southern Building Code Congress International, the Construction Specifications Institute, and the National Fire Protection Association. He has a certified recommendation from the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards.
The Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem lists Mr. Stick as a commander serving a non-governmental organization of professionals and leaders with a history going back to 1705. He is also a member of the Knights of Malta, St. George's Society of Baltimore, and the Sovereign Order of St. John of Jerusalem as a Knight of Justice. These are chivalric orders with various charitable, heraldic, or historical aims. Mr. Stick currently serves on the charitable FS Foundation, where he was a vice president from 1986 to 2017 and now serves as president.
Mr. Stick is particularly supportive of historical societies, and is affiliated with St. Andrew's Society of Baltimore, founded in 1806 to preserve and assist people of Scottish heritage in America. He is a member of the American Clan Gregor Society, the Descendants of Lords of the Maryland Manors, the Society of the Cincinnati, the Society of Colonial Wars, the Sons of the Revolution, and the Society of the War of 1812 where he served as Pennsylvania secretary from 1977 to 1982. Mr. Stick is a member of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of United States and the Zeta Psi fraternity.
For his architectural achievements, Mr. Stick was selected for inclusion in two volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Business, as well as numerous volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World. His achievements are surely a cornerstone of pride for his children and grandchildren.
