Prof. Kim, whose background is in nursing, has been a researcher at the World Health Organization (WHO) since 2013. Spending the first part of her career as a postdoctoral fellow and associate faculty member in the U.S. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, she then became a professor of nursing at Kkottongae University. Named education director at the university soon after, Prof. KIm also teaches at Seojeong College.
Teaching in her field of expertise was a very rewarding experience for Prof. Kim. Likewise, being able to work for the World Health Organization today, an organization whose primary role is to direct international health within the United Nations' system and to lead partners in global health responses, has been equally gratifying to Prof. Kim.
Recently, Prof. Kim served as a committee member for the master thesis review at Kyung Hee University. She also spent time on several other committees and has lectured for the Korean Society of Hospice and Palliative Care in Choongbuk, and the Community Self-Support Center of Choongbuk. Prof. Kim published a paper in the Journal of Cancer Nursing in 2014.
Prof. Kim holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing from Catholic University of Korea and a PhD from Korea University. A registered nurse through the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Korea since 1991, she is also certified in PAVE peer education through the University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2007.
The author of "Promoting Awareness Victim Empowerment for University Student", "Complementary & Alternative Therapy and Nursing", "Pediatric Health Nursing", "Public Health Education", and "Nursing Care of Infants and Children", Prof. Kim has also contributed articles to professional journals on an array of topics. A grant recipient by the Korean Nurses Association in 2003, Prof. Kim has been included in the 32nd and 33rd editions of Who's Who in the World for her accomplishments.
