Earlier in her career she held the role of Staff Physical Therapist for a number of hospitals, including St. Joseph Hospital, Wrightwood Extended Care, Suburban Hospital. Subsequently, she became the Assistant Chief Physical Therapist for Community General Hospital. She then served for 33 years as an Itinerant Physical Therapist for Caddo Parish School System.
A graduate of Columbia University and Miami University of Ohio, Ms. Hummel holds a Bachelor of Arts, as well as a certification in physical therapy. Other affiliations include Pines Presbyterian Women's Coordinating Team. In addition to her status as an expert within her field, she has been awarded on many occasions for her work in the field. Since the late 1980's Ms. Hummel has been featured in one edition of Marquis Who's Who of American Women, three editions of Marquis Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, six editions of Marquis Who's Who in the South and Southwest and eight editions of Marquis Who's Who in America. She was awarded Most Exceptional Resources Person in 1986-1987 by the Caddo-Bossier CEC.
