He has worked on office buildings, institutional structures, bridges, research facilities, multi-family housing, public buildings, highways, tunnels. and single family houses; and iconic: Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, Stata Center at MIT, Boston Central Artery/Tunnel, Red Line Extension, Green Line Extension, and large-scale single-family houses for unnamed clients. Upon his commencement from MIT, Mr. Martin served as principal of Stan Martin, Designer/Builder from 1977 to 1984. Subsequently, he was an associate and partner of Gadsby & Hannah LLP, as well as partner of both Holland & Knight LLP and Duane Morris LLP.
An alumnus of MIT and Boston College, Mr. Martin holds a Bachelor of Science and a JD. Certified to practice law through the Massachusetts and New Hampshire State Bars, he is a Fellow of the American College of Construction Lawyers. In an effort to remain current with trends in his field, Mr. Martin maintains alignment with the American Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, and the Associated General Contractors of America. He has also served on boards and committees for AGC of Massachusetts, Massachusetts Building Congress, Construction Industries of Massachusetts, Boston Society of Architects, American Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, and Massachusetts Bar Association.
Over the years, Mr. Martin has contributed his knowledge to numerous scholarly works, including Construction Law Handbook, 2nd Edition, Wolters Kluwer, Co-editor (2009), Northeast Region chapter, Construction Law Update, Wolters Kluwer (1995-2016), Massachusetts chapter, Fifty-State Lien and Bond Manual, Wolters Kluwer (2012-2016), Construction Contract Damages chapter, Damages, Interest and Attorneys' Fees in Massachusetts Litigation, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (1996) and 4th edition (2013) and Project Delivery Systems for Construction, Associated General Contractors of America (contr. author, 2nd ed. 2004; commenter, 3rd ed. 2011).
He has given more than 200 presentations on construction law topics.
