TEMPLE, TX, August 15, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Clifford Buckley has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Buckley has been practicing medicine for more than 55 years and vascular and endovascular surgery for more than 45 years. He served as the Associate Chief of Staff for Surgical Services at Central Texas Veterans Health Care System; a member and former Chair of the Vascular Surgery Advisory Board for the National Director of Surgery VHA; Chief Surgical Consultant for VISN 17 and Professor of Surgery at Texas A&M University Health Science Center, College of Medicine. Dr. Buckley is also currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Endovascular Therapy.
Dr. Buckley has been involved in administration, teaching and the practice of vascular surgery for the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System and Baylor Scott and White Health for 24 years. He is current in Board Certification in Vascular and General Surgery. Prior to coming to Temple, TX, Dr. Buckley spent 15 years in the private practice of vascular surgery in San Antonio, TX and was affiliated with the University of Texas Health Science Center and the STVHCS surgical faculty.
Additionally, Dr. Buckley has 16 years of service with both the USAF MC and the USAF line operations serving as OIC/Surgeon for Pararescue during the Vietnam War and later serving as Program Director for the largest surgical residency program in the U.S. military. His last military assignment was as Colonel in the United States Air Force Medical Corps and Chairman, Division of Surgery, Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. In his words, "I view my time spent working with USAF Parasrescue as the pinnacle of my career. It brought me in close contact with a group of persons who would willingly give their all - including their lives, if necessary - to rescue and then care for person(s) in need of their highly skilled services."
Dr. Buckley has authored over 70 peer-reviewed articles, 6 book chapters and has been Co-Guest Editor for Seminars in Vascular Surgery on three occasions. He is and has been an invited lecturer and visiting professor both nationally and internationally on more than one hundred occasions. He also loves to teach and has been involved in training medical students, residents and some selected vascular surgeons.
Dr. Buckley is a member of many prestigious professional organizations. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, a Distinguished Fellow of the Society for Vascular Surgery, Past President of the Texas Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society and a member and Past President of the Texas Surgical Society, to name but a few. He is President of the International Society of Endovascular Specialists.
In recognition of his professional excellence, Dr. Buckley was named Flight Surgeon of the Year by the U.S. Air Force in 1966 and has been the recipient of several Physician's Recognition Awards from the American Medical Association. Further, Dr. Buckley earned an Excellence in Health Care Delivery and Services Award from Texas A&M University of Health Sciences Center and the Malcom C. Grow Award from the U.S. Air Force. More recently, Dr. Buckley was selected for inclusion into Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest.
Before establishing himself professionally, Dr. Buckley prepared for his career by investing in his education. He earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958 and an MD from Hahnemann University in 1962. In his free time, he enjoys traveling, teaching and reading.
