LOS ALTOS, CA, August 15, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Nancy Daggett Jensen a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Ms. Jensen celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Every small town has a beloved music teacher, and that culturally expansive quality extends to large metropolitan areas as well. Ms. Jensen resides in the bustling crook of the San Francisco Peninsula, and has offered her services as a private piano teacher and master musician in Los Altos since 1967. She joined the Steinway Society's Board of Directors in 2002, has been Artistic Director since 2008, and was Secretary from 2015-2017. The Steinway Society is a nonprofit based in San Jose that "promotes excellence in piano performance and music education" in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Born in Los Angeles to Daniel Thomas and Louise Helen Daggett, Ms. Jensen knew from a very young age what she wanted to do with her life. On her 10th birthday, she received a piano as a present, and was inspired with a passion for playing the instrument. It was a passion she would spread to others as a music teacher and leader in her community.
As a first step, Ms. Jensen attended San Jose State University to earn a Bachelor of Arts in 1964 and a Master of Arts in 1967. She began teaching in that year, and in 1972, she served her first of four terms (1972-1974, 1982-1983, 1985-1986 and 1993-1994) as president of the Los Altos Branch of the Music Teachers Association of California. She also served as State Chair of the Music Teachers' Association Certificate of Merit program from 1974-1979 and as Northern California Panel Chair on the Certificate of Merit Council from 2007-2013. She was certified with a 1991 Master Teacher Award by the Music Teacher National Association. Ms. Jensen has also served with the California Association of Professional Music Teachers.
The Steinway Society is primarily engaged in bringing world-class pianists to the San Francisco Bay area, educating the youth in music, and arranging in-home recitals reminiscent of 19th century salon concerts. Since the society's inception, it has benefited from a relationship with the International Van Cliburn Piano Competition, and has brought a number of critically acclaimed musicians from the contest to performances in California. Ms. Jensen has served on the society's board for many years, helping to organize a spectacular array of pianists from all over the world.
For many years dedication to the instruction and proliferation of beautiful music, Ms. Jensen was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, three volumes of Who's Who of American Women, and two volumes of Who's Who in American Education from 2006 to 2008. In 1978, Ms. Jensen married Sven Oxfeldt Jensen, with whom she has had two children, Lori and Brian.
