A professor in the department of horticulture science as well as an associate dean for the office of planning at Kangwon National University (KNU) since 2004, Dr. Kang has been an upstanding teacher and colleague at the university best known for his dedication and enthusiasm in the field. Working at one of 10 core national universities in Chuncheon, Dr. Kang has spent much time teaching, researching, and documenting his work, including extensive study in postharvest physiology, biotechnology and protected horticulture.
Completing his studies in 1999, Dr. Kang first earned a Bachelor of Arts in Agriculture, a Master of Science in Horticulture, and a PhD in Horticulture at Korea University in Seoul. He previously worked as an adjunct researcher at the Korea Food Research Institute, completed post-doctoral studies at the University of California at Davis in the department of vegetable crops, and served as secretary general for the Korean Society for Bio-Environment Control.
Recently, Dr. Kang authored "Patient: Plant Growng Apparatus with Light Supply and Moving Multi-Stages Systems," published in 2015, and co-authored "Protected Horticulture," in 2010. He currently serves as editor-in-chief for the postharvest section of Horticulture Science and Technology, as well as for the Journal of Bio-Environment Control.
Dr. Kang is affiliated as a member of the Korean Society for Horticulture Science. He is also a member of The Korean Society for Bio-Environment Control, where he was recognized with a Best Paper Award in 2014. He has been named to Who's Who in the World in 2016. Married to MeeKyung Yoon, he has two sons.
