A professor emeritus at Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) in Korea, Dr. Chung taught at the academic establishment's school of architecture from 1981 to 2017. For a short time, he also served as dean of graduate school housing and as dean the college of engineering. His contributions in education and in the field were tremendously successful, resulting in him authoring and publishing more than 250 papers in the Transactions of Society, as well as authoring 21 books.
SeoulTech, which was founded in 1910, is located in the North East Tereung area of Seoul. Prior to joining the university, Dr. Chung received a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering at Hanyang University and a Master of Arts in Environmental Science at Seoul National University. After several years of teaching, he returned to school to complete a PhD in Building Services Engineering at Hanyang University in 1991.
Dr. Chung has been serving as chairman of the Korean Green City Association for the past two years. He has also been the president of the Architectural Mechanical Equipment Research Institute for SeoulTech since 2008. A past president of the Korean Society of Geothermal Energy Engineers, Dr. Chung remains active with the American Society of Heating, the Korean Institute of Architects, the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate, and the Society of Heating, Air Conditioning, and Sanitary Engineers of Japan, among others.
Married to Hae-won Yoo with two children, Dr. Chung previously served in the Korean military, reaching the rank of sergeant. Today, he enjoys time well spent with family, as well as golf and go-game. He was recently highlighted in the 2016 edition of Who's Who in the World.
