PORTAGE, IN, August 29, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Marvis Lynn Schroeder a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Mrs. Schroeder celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mrs. Schroeder had the opportunity to enjoy two very different vocations during the course of her career, dating back to 1967 when she first started out as a teacher at Glasgow AFB Junior High in Montana. Remaining in the classroom for another 17 years, she spent time teaching art and special education at Cheyenne Public Schools in Wyoming, special education at Northwest Indiana, Special Education Cooperative in Crown Point, learning disabilities at Riverside Schools in Riverside, California, and art at Hobart Schools in Indiana
Although Mrs. Schroeder has always been artistic and especially loved teaching art to her students, she was ready for change. Taken on board as a financial aid counselor at Indiana University, she left the classroom to instead help provide opportunities for students so that they could achieve their dreams. Employed with the university for 15 years, she made one last career change in 2001. Making the decision to get into accounting after the advice of her father, who was an attorney who encouraged her to get a background in business, she knew it would be a good fit because she was good with numbers.
Hired by Harold Sullivan CPA in Portage, Indiana, Mrs. Schroeder remained at the firm until 2003, when she retired from active professional pursuits. Mrs. Schroeder has a Bachelor of Science in Art Education and an MSBA from Indiana University and a Master of Art in Special Education from the University of Wyoming. She is certified in both education and accounting.
Since 2003, Mrs. Schroeder has become very active in her community. She served as a board trustee for Portage First United Methodist Church from 2003 to 2005, and as a member of their finance committee during 2007. A member of Illiana Artists, she served as treasurer in 2009. She is also an active member of Chesterton Art Center.
Throughout her years in the art world, Mrs. Schroeder's artwork has been viewed in numerous exhibitions, including at the Portage Senior Artists Exhibition, the Art Barn Gallery, and the Valparaiso Art Academy Gallery, to name a few. She has also hosted one-woman shows, to include at the Chesterton Women's Art Center, the Porter County Administration Center, and the Illiana Artists Members Show.
To honor her career and her art, Mrs. Schroeder has been included in more than a dozen editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Finance and Business, and Who's Who of American Women. Remarried, Mrs. Schroeder has a daughter from her first marriage: Tiffany Lynn Courtois. In her down time, she enjoys spending time with her family, painting, sewing, crafting, reading, and traveling.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to her profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Marvis Lynn Schroeder has been featured on the Marquis Who's Who Lifetime Achievers website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
