John H. Warner Jr. Named a Lifetime Achiever by Marquis Who's Who

Dr. Warner is a career executive in technical services and systems integration firms. He dedicated 34 years to the Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) supplying technical and information services primarily to the U.S. government. From health care systems to simulation and training to command, control and communications to logistics to energy and environment, SAIC has relied on Dr. Warner's expertise to help grow a small, entrepreneurial, employee-owned company with fewer than 300 employees into a New York Stock Exchange listed S&P 500 corporation with revenues of about $8 billion. Dr. Warner has dedicated himself to the application of science through business, and contributes to area trade groups in his civic sphere.

Born to John Hilliard Sr. and Irene Anne Warner in Santa Monica, Dr. Warner excelled in science and math in high school and decided to pursue engineering. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles with a B.S. in engineering with honors in 1963, After short employment with Marquardt Corporation in Van Nuys, California, he returned to UCLA to complete a M.S. and a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering in 1965 and 1967, respectively. His dissertation topic was "Energy-Dependent Transport Theory Analysis of Infinite Medium Neutron Wave Propagation," and he has published several articles on the subject in technical journals. While in graduate school, he worked summers at RAND Corporation. In 1967, he joined TRW Systems Group in Redondo Beach, California, a firm involved in technical services including support to U.S. defense and intelligence organizations. Concurrently, he taught graduate mathematics for two years at West Coast University. His role with TRW prepared him for his position as SAIC in 1973, and he quickly earned the title of corporate vice president in 1980, responsible for a major segment of the company with over 13,500 employees. Dr. Warner served on the firm's board of directors for 18 years and as chief administrative officer and executive vice president during the last three.

Dr. Warner has been a board member with Cubic Corp, ICW Group, TREX Enterprises, Mimix Broadband, and AMSEC, many of them technical service and systems integration firms. His civic contributions have earned him a role as trustee of Scripps Health for six years, as well as board positions with the San Diego Chamber of Commerce, the California Chamber of Commerce, the California Business Roundtable, the Corporate Directors Forum, and the La Jolla Music Society. Dr. Warner is a member of several professional groups as well, including the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the National Association of Corporation Directors, the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association, the Navy League of the United States, and the honor society Tau Beta Pi and the Sigma Nu fraternity.

Dr. Warner was honored with a 2006 Director of the Year award by the Corporate Directors Forum, 1963 and 1965 National Science Foundation Fellowships, as well as 1963 and 1966 Atomic Energy Commission Fellowships. He was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in Finance and Business, and the 1992 to 1993 volume of Who's Who in Finance and Industry.

Dr. Warner is married to Helga Magdalena Farrington. His son James Michael is a physician, and his daughter, Tania Renee, is an artist with her own art framing business. Beyond his service on corporate boards and civic activities, Dr. Warner enjoys bicycling, golf, fishing, music, and travel. He has one grandchild.
