Dr. Kwon is a full professor in the department of electrical engineering as well as leader of the faculty at Pukyong National University (PKNU). Beginning his career at PKNU in 2002, the College of Engineering was established as a result of a merger between Pusan National University of Technology and the National Fisheries University of Pusan, both of which were national universities offering four-year programs. A well-known and well-respected professor at PKNU, Dr. Kwon specializes in sensor engineering, including micro electro-mechanical systems. His research areas include electronic materials, MEMS, and application sciences.
In addition to his academic career, Dr. Kwon serves as a consultant and evaluation member for the Korea Strategic Trade Institute, the Korea Meteorological Administration, the National Research Foundation, the Small and Medium Business Administration, and the Ministry of Trade Industry and Energy. He formerly taught as a lecturer at Kyungpook College from 1993 to 1994, and as an assistant professor at Andong Science College from 1994 to 1998.
Dr. Kwon is active as a member of both the Korea Physical Society and the Polymer Society of Korea, as well as a lifetime member of the Korean Sensors Society. Dr. Kwon has served as a board member of the Korean Institute of Signal Processing and Systems, secretary-general of the United Culture Convention, and deputy director of the International Biographical Center. He has published numerous articles in professional journals and scientific papers to various publications, and is the author of "Sensors and Interface for a Ubiquitous Computing," which was published in 2002.
Dr. Kown has been the recipient of several awards in recognition of his work by numerous organizations, including a Sir Isaac Newton Legacy of Honor Award and a Certificate for Outstanding Engineering Achievement granted by the International Biographical Institute. Beyond those accolades, he was also named to Who's Who in the World in the 33rd edition for 2016.
Dr. Kwon served in the Korean military from 1990 to 1991. He later earned two PhDs, one at Kyungpook National in 2000 and one at Limough University in France in 2006. A family man, Dr. Kwon has five wonderful children. He enjoys listening to music and serving his community as much as possible.
