Mr. Carmany has also spent time in business for himself as the president of G. W. Carmany & Company, an advisor in financial services and health care. He is also a member of the Harvard Medical School's advisory committee on education and its advisory board for healthcare policy. He is a former trustee and member of the executive committee of Bentley University, and is a Past Chairman of the Board of Associates of the Whitehead Institute.
