A computer scientist, engineer, entrepreneur, and educator, Dr. Ji Hoon Seo was born on September 20, 1981 in Incheon, South Korea. Over the course of his life and career, he has worked tirelessly to make significant gains within his fields of focus, earning a sterling reputation in the field of computer science.
Dr. Seo studied at one of South Korea's top universities, Seoul National University of Science and Technology. In 2008, he received a bachelor's degree in safety engineering. He continued his studies at Incheon National University, where he earned a master's degree in computer science and engineering in 2010, and a PhD in computer science and engineering in 2015.
From 2011 to 2012, Dr. Seo worked at Atech Co., Ltd. as a software researcher. Afterward, in 2015, he served as an adjunct professor at Korea Vocational College of Information Technology and then as a lecturer at Gyeongin National University of Education for Computer Education. Dr. Seo continued his involvement in education at Incheon National University, and was a lecturer on computer science and engineering while working as a researcher at Advanced Software Research Center. Following his commencement, Dr. Seo established Hi-CUBE, a research and development facility and was its CEO for the 2016-2017 year. Currently, Dr. Seo is an adjunct professor of digital media engineering at Anyang University.
Dr. Seo has worked as a researcher on a variety of different projects and teams. For example, in 2010, he conducted research for the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and developed a TEST-BED solution for the UAV integration system. In 2012, on behalf of National Emergency Management, he developed a tactical, on-the-road training simulator for fire disaster field teams. In 2013, he was employed with Smart Water Grid, developing an evaluation system for local water shortages. Most recently, Dr. Seo has worked as the chief of research for the Small and Medium Business Administration. He is in the midst of developing a U-CITY business marketing convergence service based on beacon technology using big data analysis. Over the years, Dr. Seo has published a great amount of his research in various scientific journals, such as The Society of Convergence Knowledge, Advanced Science and Technology Letters, The Society of Smart Water Grid, and most recently in An International Interdisciplinary Journal.
Dr. Seo was a member of The Society of Convergence Knowledge and the Korea Institute of Information Technology. Further, he was part of an academic-industrial cooperation through Incheon National University, and became a member of the Korean Society for the Creative Information Culture just this year. In June 2013, The Korea International Trade Association awarded Dr. Seo the Industry Collaboration Prize for his essay. He was also the recipient of The Society Smart Water Grid's Best Paper Award for his essay, "Korean Text Sentiment Analysis and Opinion Mining Based on Dictionary Approach," in June 2015. He received an award certificate from DaSan Human Resource Development in October 2015, as well.
