Dr. Goodhue is a retired obstetrician, gynecologist, and educator who ran a private practice in Stamford, Connecticut from 1964 to 2010. He practiced mainly from Stamford Hospital and served with numerous area medical institutions as a physician and community leader. Dr. Goodhue has contributed to numerous professional medical journals, and maintains membership with the larger national gynecology community.
Born in Fort Fairfield, Maine, to Lawrence and Zylpha Goodhue, Dr. Goodhue attended Amherst College and received an MD from the University of Vermont in 1958. He was awarded a 1958 Carbee Prize from University of Vermont for academic excellence in obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive services. Upon graduation, Dr. Goodhue served an internship with the first surgical division of Bellevue Hospital in New York and a residency with the Yale New Haven Medical Center. He joined the U.S. Air Force from 1962 to 1964, serving to the rank of captain. In 1964, Dr. Goodhue established a private practice, going on to serve as a physician in Stamford for 46 years.
In addition to his main practice, Dr. Goodhue has served as an assistant clinical professor of obstetrics and gynecology for Columbia Presbyterian Hospital from 1999 to 2004, and as an associate clinical professor for New York Medical College from 1984 to 1998. In the '80s, he held the position of chairman for the Connecticut State Maternal Mortality Committee.
Dr. Goodhue has maintained fellowship with the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American College of Surgeons, the American Fertility Society, the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology, and the American Association for Gynecologic Laproscopists. He is a member of numerous Connecticut medical groups, and notably served with the Connecticut Society of the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists as well as the Stamford Medical Society.
Dr. Goodhue was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World. He is the husband of Edith Ann Helfenstein and the father of Lisa Grace and Scott Ames.
