With an astounding 55 years of professional experience in broadcast communications and education, Mr. Wilson is now retired as a professor emeritus in mass communication and journalism from California State University, Fresno, where he also served as faculty advisor and general manager for the campus radio station, KFSR-M for 27 years. At the start of his career, he worked as a part time reporter and newscaster for radio station KMJ in Fresno while working for his bachelor's degree from Fresno State. After becoming the top U.S. Army graduate at the Army Information School in New York, Mr. Wilson was asked to remain at the school as an instructor in the radio-television department, which trained military personnel for work in the Armed Forces Radio-Television Service. He was also involved in the development of the school's new curriculum when it became the Department of Defense Information School serving all branches of the military. After his discharge, Mr. Wilson worked as news director for a number of different California radio stations, including KVON in Napa, KTOB in Petaluma, and KTIM in San Rafael. Upon returning to Fresno, he served as a news reporter, then news director, program director, and vice president and general manager for KMJ Radio during his more than 15 years of service. Additionally, Mr. Wilson lent his expertise to the all news stations KMPH-FM, KFSN-TV, and public radio station KVPR-FM in Fresno. He worked as a weekend news anchor, news assignment editor, and jazz disc jockey, respectively.
Mr. Wilson is a graduate of Fresno State College with a Bachelor of Arts and of California State University, with a Master of Arts. His professional affiliations have included the Broadcast Education Association, the Central California Broadcasters Association, the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and the Society for Professional Journalists. Throughout his career, he has been recognized many times for his professional accomplishments. In addition to earning the Best Radio Documentary Award through the California Associated Press TV and Radio Association, he received an Award for Broadcast Excellence from Billboard Magazine. Mr. Wilson has been featured in numerous volumes of Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Entertainment, Who's Who in American Education, and Who's Who in America.
