Carey Inc., a publicly traded NYSE real estate investment trust with an enterprise value of over $11 billion. He entered real estate as the project director for the New York State Urban Development Corporation. After two years in that role he became an investment officer with Corporate Property Investors, a private regional mall REIT sponsored by Lazard Freres that was merged into Simon Property Group in 1998. Before joining W. P. Carey in 2002 as a managing director, he was at senior vice president at a Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds data center company called MetroNexus and a Principal at LendLease Development US. At the completion of his career at W. P. Carey he was COO of the listed company, and COO of four private REIT's with combined assets exceeding $23 billion, up from assets of $5 billion when he joined in 2002. Since April of 2017, he has served as president of Zacharias and Co. LLC, a real estate investment and advisory firm.
Mr. Zacharias received his undergraduate degree from Princeton University magna cum laude and an MBA from Yale School of Management. He has been active in the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, International Council of Shopping Centers, and Urban Land Institute. He has been a board member of various real estate companies and currently serves on several non-profit boards and several corporate boards.
Beyond his status as a long-standing and esteemed figure in his industry, he has been recognized many times throughout his career for his excellence in the field.
