Dr. Jung's contributions in electronics engineering have had a significant impact on the technological developments in his field. In 1986, he joined Samsung Electronics as a device and process integration engineer; from 1999 to 2006 he served as the principal engineer for Samsung Electronics Co., LTD in the Republic of Korea, and he now serves as the senior vice president and project director of Samsung Electronics' Logic Technology Development Team. Dr. Jung is well recognized in his field for his developments in SRAM design and technology. His achievements include the development of a three dimensional semiconductor memory, Logic LSI, double stacked SRAM, and 3D integrated NAND Flash memory. He has more than 30 years of experience in device/process integration in advanced CMOS technology development, and his work has had a significant impact on the advancement of this technology. Dr. Jung also significantly contributed to the opening of New Horizon through his developments in integrated device technology.
Dr. Jung attained a Bachelor of Science in 1984 and a Master of Science in 1986 from Hanyang University in Korea. In 1996, received a PhD in material science and engineering from the University of Florida. He has seven years of instructional experience in semiconductor device physics and advanced memory technology. He taught advanced SRAM Technology at multiple institutions, including Seoul National University, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Pohang University of Science and Technology, and the Graduate School of Hanyang University. Dr. Jung is well recognized for his work as a SRAM designer and technologist, and he has presented his research at multiple international circuit conferences and symposiums. He is the coauthor of the book "Integrated Interconnect Technologies for 3D NanoElectronic Systems" through which he provided work on "3D Integration and Package for Memory." He has published more than 25 research papers, and also has 23 U.S. Patents and 32 Korean Patents.
Dr. Jung was born in Busan, South Korea to parents, Ha-ill Jung and Yong-Ki Kim. He has been married for more than 30 years to Aelina Lee, and is the father of two sons, Jee-Eun, and Jae-Hyuk. He is also a veteran, having served in the Korean Army.
Dr. Jung is the recipient of the 2005 IEEE International Solid State Circuits Conference's Special Topic Session Award, and the International Solid State Circuits Conference's Takuo Sugano for Outstanding Far East Paper Award in 2009. He has been listed in Marquis Who's Who in the World, 2009-2012, and Who's Who in Asia 2012. In 2010, he was nominated for international Engineer of the Year by the International Biographical Center. He received the 2004 Nano Korea Awards Grand Price for his work "3-D Nano. S3 Technology," and he was the recipient of Samsung Technology Awards Golden Price in 1988 for his work on SRAM development.
