He is credited with the development of professional service robotics, including industrial field robots, such as pipe inspection and maintenance robots, and lightweight robots. In addition, he has completed lightweight optimization using composite structure design using CAE. Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Lee has been involved with the development of many robots and robotics components, such as the window cleaning robot (WINDRO), pipe robots (cleaning PCRs), inspection robots (K-PIBOT), rehabilitation robots (ROBIN), Pasture robots, narrow space welding robots (KLM), high pressure piping inspection robots, Lightweight robot arm, Hydraulic robot arm and Pressure direct controlling actuator (PDAR).
A recognized authority in the field of robotics, Mr. Lee has received numerous awards in recognition of his research. These include the Best Paper Award at the Fall Meeting of the Korean Society for Composite Materials in 2007, Best Paper Award of the 8th Korea Robotics Conference in 2013 and Best Paper Award of the Spring Conference of the Korean Society for Composite Materials in 2015. Most recently, he was recognized as the recipient of the Best Presentation Award from the 10th Asian-Australasian Conference on Composite Materials in 2016.
Prior to pursuing a career in robotics engineering, Mr. Lee completed military service between 2001 and 2004. He went on to attend Hanbat National University, where he received a Bachelor of Mechanical engineering in 2006 and a Master of Mechanical engineering in 2008. At the present moment, he is a recognized PhD candidate with the university. Upon completing a Master of Science, Mr. Lee began serving as a manager with Teasung Software and Engineering Corporation. He held this position until 2011, when he joined the Korea Institute of Robot and Convergence as a senior researcher.
In an effort to remain aware of recent developments in his field of expertise, Mr. Lee maintains involvement with a wide range of industry-related organizations, including the Korean Society of Composite Materials and Korean Robotics Society. In addition, he is a recognized councilor with the Korean Society for Precision Engineering.
