After accruing more than 50 years of experience, Dr. Hu retired from her role as a professor for California State University, Long Beach, where she now serves as professor emeritus.

Her research interests continue to lie in the area of few-body theory. Back in the early 1960s, she joined St. John's University as a research associate. Subsequently, she began with California State University, Long Beach, where she began as an assistant professor of physics and an associate professor. Additionally, she has lent her services to UCLA as a National Science Foundation visiting professor.
A graduate of National Taiwan University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dr. Hu holds a Bachelor of Science, as well as a PhD. She affiliates herself with the American Physical Society in order to remain active and engaged among her professional circles. A contributor to numerous articles in professional journals, she has been recognized many times for her work in the field. In addition to grants through the Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation and the CSULB Research Foundation, Dr. Hu has been featured in many volumes of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who in the World.
