A retired foundation administrator of more than 25 years and professor of more than a decade, Dr. Gartz's dedication to his field has truly enabled him to excel. From 1990 to 2016, he served as managing chairman for the Eduard Rhein Foundation in Hamburg, Germany. Founded in 1976 by Eduard Rhein, the goal of the foundation has been to promote scientific research, learning, arts, and culture by way of granting awards for outstanding achievements in research and/or development in the areas of radio, television, and information technology.
In 2005, after spending time as an academician for the International Informatization Academy and as an honorary professor of international business school at Moscow International Higher Business School, Dr. Gartz began teaching at Moscow Technical University, where he spent the next 11 years before fully retiring. Studying quantum physics, chemistry and bio-chemistry in college, Dr. Gartz taught bio-chemistry to students at the university. During his years in teaching, he was also an honorary professor at the Russian New University for a short time.
Dr. Gartz is a member of several organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the N.Y. Academy of Sciences, the Association of German Natural Scientists and Physicians, the German Society of Cell Biology, and the German Technion Society, where he served as a board member in 2008. Completing a PhD in Cell Biology at Bonn University, he later received an honorary PhD by the State University of Social Sciences in Moscow in 2000. He also won a Sputnik Medal by the Russian Federation of Cosmonautics, a Yurji Gararin Medal, and a Highest Order of Merit by the International Informatization Academy. But his proudest moment was when he received a Decorated Officer's Cross of the Order of Merit by the Federal Republic of Germany in 2013.
Whilst serving on the board of directors of the Eduard Rhein Foundation, Dr. Gartz spent 20 years as a civil servant for the Government Director in Germany. Named to several editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, and several others, Dr. Gantz is married to Christel Anneliese. They share one son.
