Being the corresponding member of the Chinese Academy of Mathematics and Systems and the vice president of the China Academy of Urban Governance, a national think tank of China, Dr. Mao is a mathematician and consultant with nearly 35 years of experience and research in applied mathematics and engineering. He has been with the training institution for middle and senior government officials of the Chinese government since August 2016, located in Beijing, the People's Republic of China. The organization has been under the direction of People' Daily since its formation in 2015.
After graduating from Wanyuan School, Dr. Mao began working as a scaffold erector in China Construction Second Engineering Bureau, First Company, in 1981, while in the pursuit of his doctorate degree. He was then appointed to serve as a technician, technical adviser, director of the construction management department, and finally general engineer. After earning an undergraduate diploma in applied mathematics and a Bachelor of Science at Peking University in 1995, he attended postgraduate courses in graph theory, combinational mathematics, and other areas. Dr. Mao completed a PhD at Northern Jiaotong University in 2002, and conducted postdoctoral research on automorphism groups of maps and surfaces at the Chinese Academy of Mathematics and System Science from 2003 to 2005. Since that time, he has been applying combinatorial notion to mathematics and other sciences, cooperating with several U.S. professors, and has since formed his own unique notion and method on scientific research.
Dr. Mao's main interests have included mathematical combinatorics and Smarandache multi-spaces with applications to sciences, including combinatorics, graph theory, algebra, topology, geometry, differential equations, complex system, biological mathematics, theoretical physics, parallel universe, purchasing and circular economy. He has published nine books and more than 80 research papers on mathematical combinatorics for the guidance of young teachers and post-graduate students. His work on Florentin Smarandache's research, particularly, how Smarandache multispaces applies mathematics to the understanding of natural phenomena.
Dr. Mao is currently serving as president of Academy of Mathematical Combinatorics and Applications (AMCA), the chief advisor of China Purchasing Association, editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Mathematical Combinatorics, and editor of Mathematical Combinatorics, an international book series since 2008 and also an honorary member of the Neutosophic Science International Associations since 2015. Dr. Mao has been married to Tieying Wang since 1990, and has one child. He is included in Who's Who in Science and Engineering and Who's Who in the World.
