Since 1982, Mr. Hilliker has served as president of S.C. Parker & Co. Inc. as torch bearer of the oldest financial services firm in western New York. Founded in 1925, the company has supported Mr. Hilliker's family since his father served with the firm in the 1940s, and offers a bevy of investment and financial planning services. At S. C. Parker, Mr. Hilliker oversees all services, investments, and decisions, attributing his success to customer service skills and enjoying what he does.
Born in Buffalo, New York, to Donald Burwell Hilliker and Mildred Angeline Hilliker, Mr. Hilliker served with the U.S. Army and became involved in his profession some time after college, when he found out about the growth and career potential available in finance. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Syracuse University, and initially joined Standard Register in Rochester, New York as a salesman. He traveled to Illinois with the company, and in the '60s, he joined Doolittle and Company as a registered representative. In the late 1960s, Mr. Hilliker joined S.C. Parker in Buffalo and, in 1982, became president of the company, Buffalo's oldest brokerage firm.
Besides advising others on financial decisions, Mr. Hilliker has served as an executive with a number of civic groups, including the Epilepsy Association of Western New York, the Vinecroft Division of Heritage Ministries, Connohio, Inc., and Tonawanda Share. He was the president and owner of Can Oui Fly, Inc., as well as a member in good standing with the Buffalo Chamber of Commerce and the Alcoholism Services of Erie County. Additionally, Mr. Hilliker maintains membership with the National Association of Securities Dealers, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the National Rifle Association, the New York Christmas Tree Growers Association, the Syracuse University Alumni Association, Psi Upsilon Alumni, the Mid-Day Club of Buffalo, the Springville Country Club, and the Aero Club of Buffalo.
For many years dedication to a legacy financial firm, Mr. Hilliker was selected for inclusion in three volumes of Who's Who in Finance and Industry from 1985 to 1990, as well as the 1986 to 1987 volume of Who's Who in the East. Richard shares his home with Joan, his wife of 30 years. He is the proud father of Karilea, Darla Jean, Christina Lynn, Nancy A. and Richard Jr. In his free time, Mr. Hilliker enjoys golfing, gardening, and riding his motorcycle. He looks forward to many years of continued growth at S.C. Parker and Company.
