Co., Ltd., where they have been hard at work on developing a robot convergence system, a medical device. At the start of his career, he served as a robotics engineer for Sungkyungkwan University. During his ten years with the University, he also served as a robotics engineer for the Korea Military Service. Over the years, Dr. Koo has lent his burgeoning expertise to Samsung Electronics as a senior engineer, The University of Texas Health Science Center as a senior research associate, and Korea University Medical Center as a research professor.
A graduate of Sungkyunkwan University, Dr. Koo holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a PhD in Robotics. While pursuing his doctorate, he focused on the design and gait transition of a quadruped robot based on a biologically inspired approach. In addition to earning numerous patents in the field for x-ray apparatus and x-ray detectors, he has contributed to a number of publications, including "improving he traversability of a quadruped walking robot using body movement in 3D rough terrains," "dynamic stability of a quadruped walking robot," and "a new method in modeling central pattern generators to control quadruped walking robots." Notably, he has been recognized many times for his work in to the field, earning a Dissertation Award, a Convergence Instance Award, and numerous Best Paper Awards.
