TYRONE, GA, October 05, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to name Grant Delbert Venerable II, PhD, a Lifetime Achiever. An accomplished listee, Dr. Venerable celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. Dr. Venerable is an artist, musician, nominally retired chemistry teacher, and author well-known for elaborating the notion that a synthesis between arts and technology is vital to a prosperous society. He is an expert in systems and entrepreneurial thinking, and authored the 1982 publication "Right-Brained Thinking for Left-Brained Systems," which led to numerous speaking engagements and became a book in 1988, titled "The Paradox of the Silicon Savior," a post-modern chronicle of the effects of a high technology society. Dr. Venerable currently teaches at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California, the latest in a prolific career with numerous institutions of higher learning and technology firms in Silicon Valley.
Born in Los Angeles to Grant Delbert and Thelma L. Venerable, Dr. Venerable is the son of a mathematician and civil engineer on his father's side and an accomplished organist on his mother's. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles, and inspired by his freshman chemistry class, went on to the master's program with the University of Chicago, earning a PhD in 1970 with the department of physical chemistry. Dr. Venerable returned to UCLA for postdoctoral studies with the laboratory of nuclear medicine, supported by a U.S. Atomic Energy Commission Fellowship. He went on to teach at California Polytechnic State University from 1972 to 1978, and as Sloan Lecturer of Chemistry at the University of California, Santa Cruz from 1978 to 1980.
In his first years of teaching, Dr. Venerable realized he had a talent for attracting grant funding, and honed his chemistry teaching skills. In 1981, Dr. Venerable began to consult with prestigious firms like Motorola and Banks Brown, serving as a software scientist for much of the 1980s. He remembers with pride his role as keynote speaker at a national conference on arts education at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in 1985 and 1987.
Dr. Venerable returned to teaching with San Francisco State University, this time as a lecturer in the College of Ethnic Studies. He sought to unite cultural history with scientific principles. In 1996, he joined Chicago State University in Illinois as a professor of chemistry, associate provost, and associate vice president. Dr. Venerable went on to become chief academic officer and provost for Morris Brown College in Atlanta and Lincoln University in Pennsylvania. As a notable scientist of African American heritage, Dr. Venerable has been affiliated with the National Organization for Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers. In addition, he has been an active member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Chemical Society, and Alpha Chi Sigma.
Dr. Venerable is celebrated as an interdisciplinary scholar. Notable authored works include "The Discovery of a Calculus of Transformations in Chemistry" in 1974, as well as "Managing in a Five Dimension Economy" in 1999. Dr. Venerable has been commissioned by research scientists and international firms for his artwork, inspired by the beauty of molecular structure, chemical reactions, and scientific principles. In 2012, Dr. Venerable gave "A Recital of Sacred and Classical Music" on the Aeolian-Skinner Organ at the Cathedral of St. Phillip in Atlanta.
Dr. Venerable is the recipient of a 1996 Urban Education Achievement Award from the JGT Foundation in San Francisco, as well as a 1990 Achievement Award from the California Alliance for Art Education. He was selected for inclusion in numerous volumes of Who's Who in America, two volumes of Who's Who in Science and Engineering, as well as the 2010 volume of Who's Who in the World. Dr. Venerable still enjoys playing the organ, painting, and swimming.
