As a professor with Purdue University and an attorney at her firm of Naimi and Associates, Dr. Naimi has served for most of her professional career in higher education administration and teaching. In recognition of her excellence as an educator, Dr. Naimi has been honored with numerous teaching awards, including the university's highest teaching awards - the Charles B. Murphy Award and James D. Dwyer Award for Outstanding Teaching and was inducted into Purdue University's prestigious Teaching Academy. In 2018, Dr. Naimi will be added to the Book of Great Teachers at Purdue. She was recently recognized for her commitment to education, leadership, and service with life membership in the Golden Key International Honor Society and election to Vice President of the International Leadership Council. Dr. Naimi is an active member of the American Bar Association and was recently honored for 20 years of pro bono legal services and law education with an Elite American Lawyer Award, and membership in the prestigious American Law Society and Lawyers of Distinction, representing the top ten percent of attorneys in the U.S.A.
Dr. Naimi specializes in intellectual property, business law, and technology law, and her teaching and research focus on ethical and legal issues in leadership and technology innovation. In addition to her prolific educational and legal career, Dr. Naimi is a published author with her husband, retired criminologist M.T. Naimi. They released their recent historical fictions "Darvish "and "The Divine Act" at the Angeles Times Festival of Books.
Dr. Naimi attributes her success to her passion for teaching, learning and servant leadership, and is most proud of being able to help thousands of students succeed, influence their career path, and instill in them a love of learning. She entered law with a desire to make the world a better place and a commitment to lead a life of integrity, service, and leadership, and always loved learning and challenging herself and others to make a positive difference in the world. As the eldest of eight children, Dr. Naimi became the first in her family to enter higher education, earning five degrees culminating in a JD with the University of Connecticut, as well as a master's degree and a doctorate at Harvard University. She has dedicated her life to education, law and service to humanity. Her work has taken her across the U.S. and to over 25 other countries.
In addition to teaching and law practice, Dr. Naimi has served as an editor and reviewer for numerous publications, such as the International Journal of Business and Finance Research, and as a valued reviewer and panelist for the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship, Provost's Diversity Transformation Awards Program, American Society of Engineering Educators SMART Program, and National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program. She is an active member of the American Bar Association, American Association for the Advancement of Science, American Society of Engineering Educators, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Golden Key International Honour Society, International Women's Leadership Association, and the International Leadership Association. She and her husband recently celebrated 42 years of marriage. Future plans include returning to her legal practice full time upon retirement from the university and devoting her free time to various charity and community organizations.
