After accruing more than 50 years of industry experience, Dr. Hanson currently holds the title of professor emeritus at the University of Illinois at Chicago. At the start of his career, he worked as a space technician for Convair Astronautics and as an applied mathematician for Arthur D. Little, Inc. Over the years, he also lent his services to Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and Courant Institute before joining the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he worked in a variety of positions, such as assistant professor, associate professor, professor, associate director of the Laboratory for Advanced Computing, and associate director of the Laboratory for Control & Information.
A graduate of Antioch College and the prestigious Brown University, Dr. Hanson holds a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science, and a PhD. In order to remain active and engaged among his professional circles, he affiliates himself with the IEEE, on their Technical Committee on Control Education, where he has served since 2002. Throughout his lengthy career, he has contributed his extensive knowledge to a number of creative works, including "Applied Stochastic Processes and Control for Jump-Diffusions: Revised Edition." Additionally, he served as associate editor-in-chief of Applied and Computational Control Signals and Circuits.
Beyond his status as a long-standing and versatile figure in his field, Dr. Hanson has been awarded on numerous occasions for his professional accomplishments. In addition to earning grants through the San Diego Supercomputer Center, the Cornell Theory Center, the Los Alamos National Laboratory, and the National Science Foundation, he has also been featured in such publications as Who's Who in America, Who's Who in Science and Engineering, Who's Who in the Midwest, and Who's Who in the World. Looking ahead, Dr. Hanson intends to continue imparting his knowledge to others through his role as professor emeritus with the University of Illinois at Chicago.
