His extensive background, expertise, leadership and proven product development skills in software and hardware engineering have led to commercially successful products in the communications, medical, storage and earth sciences industries. Many of these products are still in production today. He is the author or coauthor of more than fifteen publications ranging in topics from embedded software programming to autonomic systems and has contributed his expertise and participation to IEEE standards on storage systems.
Notably, while working at Storage Technology Corporation in all phases of software product development from product conception to product delivery, Mr. Mueller made significant contributions to a tape library software management product launched in 1988 and which is still in production today at Oracle Corporation. Also during this time, he was recognized as a key Storage Technology employee and was responsible for the overall technical product architecture and strategy for all non-IBM software storage products. Additionally, Mr. Mueller made important contributions to the adoption of storage system standards including recognition as a contributing author of the Mass Storage Reference Model and a contributor to the IEEE Storage Systems Standards Working Group.
Prior to working for Oracle Corporation as a principle software engineer and earlier with Sun Microsystems as a consultant and senior staff software engineer, where he continued to make significant contributions to several major storage products, Mr. Mueller was a computer programmer and mathematician for the U.S. Geological Survey, as well as a research assistant at the University of Colorado Medical Center. He was also a member of the technical staff for AT&T Information Systems in Denver, worked as an advisory software engineer for Storage Technology Corporation in Louisville and later as a consultant for this company as well as for Sun Microsystems and Level 3 Communications. After his tenure at Storage Technology and continuing through his time at Oracle, he taught and tutored graduate and undergraduate students at the Online campus of the University of Phoenix, applying his diverse background to courses in mathematics and computer science.
A member of several professional and honorary organizations, to include the Association of Computing Machinery, Tau Beta Pi, Engineering Honor Society, Kappa Mu Epsilon, Mathematics Honor Society, and Eta Kappa Nu, Electrical Engineering Honor Society, Mr. Mueller is also a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Impressively, he holds four degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Mineral Engineering Physics and a Bachelor of Science in Mineral Engineering Mathematics both from the Colorado School of Mines, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with honors from the University of Colorado at Denver and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Mr. Mueller, who is currently employed as a consultant in Denver, continues to pursue his diverse interests in computer science, mathematics, robotics, control and servo systems, biomedical engineering and signal processing.
