Supported by more than 30 years of teaching, research and industry consulting experiences, Dr. Bai currently works as a professor at Pukyong National University, and on the advisory committee of the Korean Intellectual Property Office. At the start of his career, he served as a research associate with the Department of Physiological Chemistry in the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis, as a visiting assistant professor at The Ohio State University's School of Natural Resources, and as a research associate with the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences at Texas A&M University. Subsequently, he joined a number of journals and organizations in editorial and executive roles, including Aquaculture Research, the Journal of World Aquaculture Society, Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, The Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Science, World Aquaculture Society, and the Busan International Fisheries Market.
Additionally, Dr. Bai has lent his expertise to The Korea Federation of Fisheries Sciences and Technology, the University of California, Davis, and the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency.
A graduate of Konkuk University, California State University, Fresno, and the University of California, Davis, Dr. Bai holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences, a Master of Science in Animal Nutrition, and a PhD in Nutrition. His professional affiliations include the World Aquaculture Society, The Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences, the New York Academy of Sciences, the American Society of Nutritional Sciences, and The Korean Future Aquaculture Investment Forum, as well as many others.
Throughout the course of his lengthy career, Dr. Bai has contributed to more than 250 peer reviewed journal papers and book (or book chapter) publications and more than 500 article presentations in national and international conferences. Over the years, he has also collaborated with the National Institute of Fisheries Sciences in artificial breeding of Japanese eel, and glass eel production. Furthermore, Dr. Bai been elected as the President of the World Aquaculture Society (the first Asian president of the Society).
Beyond his status as an esteemed and versatile figure in his field, Dr. Bai has been awarded on numerous occasions for his professional accomplishments. In addition to earning recognition and appreciation awards through The Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Science, the World Aquaculture Society, and The Korean Aquaculture Society, Dr. Bai won many Outstanding Teaching, Research and Service Awards through Pukyong National University, and the Won Jonghoon Research Award through The Korean Society of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. In the coming years, Dr. Bai intends to experience the upward trajectory of his career.
