Mr. Seidel continues to celebrate his fruitful retirement in his fourth term in the New Hampshire House of Representatives for Ward 1 in Nashua, after closing his consultation business of Carl W. Seidel & Associates in 2002. He has been host of "The People's View" since 2012, an award-wining public access TV interview show available on YouTube. Mr. Seidel initially worked as a chemist and marketing manager for Nuclear Science and Engineering in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, when that company was purchased by a West Coast company he left to be a marketing manager for New England Nuclear in Boston. That firm was later purchased by the legacy firm DuPont in 1981. DuPont then formed a joint venture with Merck in 1991 and Mr. Seidel retired from DuPont-Merck in 1997. He assumed the role of president and CEO of International Isotopes, a company that produces radioisotopes, pharmaceutical grade radio-chemicals, and contract manufacturing of radio-pharmaceuticals and devices, from 1997 to 2000.
Mr. Seidel has been interested in science since high school, and pursued a BS in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin and an MS from the University of Notre Dame. He has been a consultant for the U.S. Department of Energy, technical advisor for the U.S. Pharmacopeia in Bethesda, Maryland, served as a town representative for Chelmsford, Mass., and as treasurer and chairman for the Nashua New Hampshire Republican City Committee. Mr. Seidel was first elected to the New Hampshire legislature in 2008. He chaired an American National Standards Institute committee, where he helped to write the operations standards for radiation measurement equipment in medical and industrial applications. Mr. Seidel also served as an editor on Mossbauer Effect Methodology in chemistry, before his involvement in pharmaceuticals.
A member of the International Isotope Society, the American College of Nuclear Physicians, the American Chemical Society, and several other organizations, Mr. Seidel is also a member and former secretary treasurer of the therapy council for the Society of Nuclear Medicine. He was the editor of "The Mossbauer Effect and Its Application in Chemistry" in 1967, in addition to co-editing various volumes of "Mossbauer Effect Methodology." Mr. Seidel has been included in several editions of Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in Finance and Business, and Who's Who in American Politics. He is a two-time widower and currently has four children, three step-children, and five grandchildren.
