Lydia Duff Steadman Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA, October 16, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lydia Duff Steadman with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Steadman celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. A widely regarded symphony violinist, Ms. Steadman has performed with professional ensembles located throughout the United States for more than 50 years. Most recently, she served as the principal first and second violin with the California Lutheran University Orchestra. Since the turn of the century, Ms. Steadman has performed with the Loyola Marymount Orchestra and Camarillo High School Theatre Orchestra. She has served as a secretary and played in the second violin section of the Los Angeles Doctors Symphony since 2001, was a violinist of the Kenai Peninsula Orchestra, and played with the Westlake Village Symphony. Throughout the course of her career, Ms. Steadman has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, Who's Who in American Education and Who's Who of American Women.

In addition to maintaining a career as a talented musician, Ms. Steadman is also a former educator. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education at the University of Southern California in 1957, she began serving as an instrumental music teacher with the Lancaster School District. She later joined the Simi School District as an instrumental music teacher, a position she held from 1962 to 1970.

Certified in special secondary music and education, Ms. Steadman transitioned into a role as an elementary school teacher with the Simi School District in 1970. She previously assisted the Simi Valley Schools as a director of the All District Orchestra from 1957 to 1970. From 1982 to 1994, Ms. Steadman was recognized as the president of San Fernando Community Concerts. Since 2001, she has freelanced with the pit orchestra of the Cabrillo Music Theatre, Conejo Players Theater, Moorpark College Theatre and Newbury Park High School Theater Orchestra.

Although Ms. Steadman retired from an official educator role in 2001, she continues to maintain involvement with numerous industry-related organizations, including the American Association of University Women, National Association of Female Executives, L.A. World Affairs Council, Pacific Asia Museum, Armand Hammer Museum and Sigma Xi. She has served as the vice president of the Business and Professional Women of Conejo Valley for more than two decades, in addition to being a former president of their Golden Triangle chapter, as well as issues and management chair, ways and means chair with the Coast chapter. Furthermore, she has served as editor of the Golden Triangle newsletter, as well as treasurer, secretary and organizing speaker for the Business and Professional Women of Conejo Valley. Currently, she is again president of the Golden Triangle chapter.

A respected authority in the area of Polynesian culture, Ms. Steadman has served as a teacher of Polynesian culture, dance and games since 1970. She has also provided assistance as a historical playwright for elementary grades and organizer of elementary school dance festivals. Previously, Ms. Steadman compiled a Japanese culture study unit for elementary grades in Ventura County. She was a delegate to the People to People Ambassador Program in South Africa in 2009.
