Before establishing herself professionally, Ms. Pettinga attended Smith College, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts cum laude in 1984. Thereafter she pursued and achieved a Juris Doctor magna cum laude from the Maurer School of Law at Indiana University. Upon graduating in 1987 and passing the Bar, she was admitted to practice law in the state of Indiana and later admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana, and the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana.
Today, Ms. Pettinga remains at the top of her field through her affiliation with various industry organizations. She is a board member for the Indiana Trial Lawyer Association.
