Mr. Krug holds the venerable title of professor emeritus with Pittsburg State University, as well as the honor of a permanent presence in those halls of learning with the Harry Krug Art Gallery.
FRONTANAC, KS, October 19, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Harry Elno Krug with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Krug celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Mr. Krug holds the venerable title of professor emeritus with Pittsburg State University, as well as the honor of a permanent presence in those halls of learning with the Harry Krug Art Gallery. Located in Porter Hall on the first floor lobby, the gallery stands as a monument to 38 years of faithful teaching and leadership within the art department of Pittsburg State. Mr. Krug has become a well-regarded artist in the medium of serigraphy, or silkscreen printing, and his work was been featured in both domestic and European exhibitions as well as a number of textbooks.
Filled with natural themes and vibrant colors, Mr. Krug's printmaking recalls both his birthplace of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and the state of Kansas where he has lived for so long. "As a fine artist, I was one of the first, not the first, but one of the first to experiment with silkscreens," he said in a video interview for the University of Wyoming Art Museum, where he was featured in 2012. He was initially a student of etching and engravings, and Mr. Krug recalls trying to transfer the unique embossing of those pieces to prints. The process can be time consuming, sometimes taking three to five years for one piece.
As a contemporary artist, Mr. Krug gives a surrealist perspective to the images of hot Augusts and calm lake scenes from his youth. He often seeks to portray the concept of individual perspective in his artwork, showing how each person's dreams and ideas change how people see the world, saying, "It's the mind that I'm really dealing with, not the techniques of the process, and it's a constantly exciting process as your life unfolds."
Mr. Krug received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He then went to the University of Wisconsin, in Madison, where he earned a terminal Masters of Fine Arts degree. After receiving a master's degree, Mr. Krug taught extension courses at the University of Wisconsin in art across the state of Wisconsin. He continued postgraduate work with the University of New Mexico and Pittsburg State University, and was exhibited throughout the country for much of the '60s. Mr. Krug's artwork can still be found on fine arts auctions, and has been recognized with a 1960 Mid-America Annual Purchase Award from the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, a 1962 Sonia Watter Award from the American Color Print Society, and a 1968 prize for graphics from the Jersey City Museum. Mr. Krug volunteered for the US Army and was stationed in Germany as a special service craft director.
A member of the Boston Printmakers and the Philadelphia Print Club, Mr. Krug was featured in the 2006 to 2007 volume of Who's Who in America. Mr. Krug's art can be found with the collections of Nelson-Atkins, the U.S. Information Agency, the Springfield Art Museum, and the Ohio University Galleries, along with Mr. Krug himself in his well-earned retirement.
In recognition of outstanding contributions to his profession and the Marquis Who's Who community, Mr Krug has been featured on the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement website. Please visit www.ltachievers.com for more information about this honor.
