An accomplished listee, Ms. Wilson celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.
Retired librarian Ms. Wilson first started out in the classroom as a teacher of English for the Fulton County School System. It wasn't for another 15 years that she pursued other interests. Becoming a serials cataloger at the Vanderbilt University Library in Nashville in 1974, she remained at the library for three years before she began working as an assistant librarian at United Methodist Publishing House. In 1980, Ms. Wilson was offered a position at David Lipscomb University, where she worked her way up to director at their Beaman Library until 2014, when she officially retired.
For the past 15 years, Ms. Wilson has been maintaining an ongoing feature column for a bi-monthly, inspirational magazine, called "21st Century Christian." The literary publication Second and Church published a memorial issue honoring the late writer, John Egerton, and her feature was a memorial remembrance. The 2016 issue on Southern food contained an article she wrote on that topic. Putting pen to paper has always been one of her favorite avocations.
Ms. Wilson completed a BA at David Lipscomb College in 1957 and a Master of Library Science at George Peabody College in 1976. She is a member of the American Library Association and the Tennessee Library Association, which honored her with a Frances Neel Cheney Award in 1992. As a member and former Secretary of the Executive Board of the Southeastern Library Association, she also served as Chair of the Outstanding Southeastern Author Award, Chair of the Southern Books Competition. As a long-time member of the Women's National Book Association, she served both as President and member of the Board for the Nashville Chapter and also president of the national organization from 1992-94.
Ms. Wilson spent time as a consultant and researcher, member and leader in projects for the Tennessee State Bicentennial Year, including Tennessee Literary Legacy and Literary Map, as project director for the Tennessee Humanities Council grant, as a representative for Academic Libraries on the Tennessee Advisory Council on Libraries, and on the board of directors for the Disciple of Christ Historical Society.
Married to Larry Kittrell Wilson for many years, Ms. Wilson and he had two daughters together. Included in several editions of Who's Who, to include Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who in the South and Southwest, she has received a number of awards throughout her career, including the MIHOW Award by Women Mentoring Women and the John William Baker Faculty Award from Lipscomb University, and Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Women's National Book Association.
