A research scientist and principal member of the engineering staff at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) in the intelligent System on a Chip (SoC) research department, Dr. Park has been employed with the organization since 1992. ETRI is a government-funded, global research institute that was founded 40 years ago and is located in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. Between the years of 1987 and 1992, he was a researcher for LG Seminconductor Company (Now SK Hynex). He also worked for GoldStar Seminconductor Company in Gumi, Republic of Korea, as a researcher.
Dr. Park became a faculty member at the University of Science and Technology (UST) in Daejeon in 2007, and has taught since. He has authored and co-authored more than 25 technical papers and 128 patents, including 63 U.S. patents in the multimedia SoC design areas. Dr. Park involved as a member of several evaluation and national funded projects, his interests include video compression algorithm, SoC architecture design, image signal processing, sensor design, and SoC verification.
Maintaining membership with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Institute of Electronics Engineers of Korea Society, Dr. Park previously spent time as a reviewer for the IEEE Trans. Circuit and System Video Technology and was also a reviewer for the ETRI Journal for several years.
Dr. Park is a graduate of Kyungpook National University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in 1984, a Master of Science degree in 1986, and a PhD in Electronic Engineering in 2006. He was highlighted in Who's Who in Science and Engineering in 2016 and was also included in Who's Who in the Year for 2014, 2015, and 2016.
