A chartered financial consultant and chartered life underwriter Ms. Hartmann didn't begin her career in the field of finance. First obtaining her undergraduate degree at Montclair State University in 1962, she began her career in education, teaching for one year for the Bloomfield Board of Education in New Jersey. She then spent another 14 years in non-profit organizations as an administrator, first with the Girl Scouts of the USA and in Pennsylvania and Michigan and later with the YWCA USA in New Jersey and Ohio.
In 1975, Ms. Hartmann completed a Master of Business Administration in Finance at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and two years later, she began working as a director of finance and field personnel for Sycor, Inc., in Ann Arbor, MI. In 1979, Ms. Hartmann became a senior consultant with Health Systems Group, also in Ann Arbor, before going into business for herself in 1980 as a financial planner for Hartmann & Associates in Toledo, OH. She has been affiliated with Connecticut General, CIGNA Financial and Lincoln Financial Group.
A former adjunct faculty member at the University of Toledo during the mid-to-late-1980s, Ms. Hartmann also taught at Lourdes College in Sylvania, Ohio from 1987 to 1998. She has been a member of the development committee for the Toledo Museum of Art since 2008, and since 2014 has served as a trustee for the West Ohio Conference of The United Methodists and a vice-president for Girl Scouts of Western Ohio. She has served as president of Friendly Center and a board member and foundation trustee for Zonta Club of Toledo I.
Arbitrator of the National Association of Securities Dealers, former Toledo and national president of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, former board of directors member for the Toledo Estate Planning Council, and former vice president, president-elect, and president of the Toledo Association of Life Underwriters, Ms. Hartmann has been the recipient of numerous awards during her career. The Girls Scouts of Maumee Valley Council named her Distinguished Community Woman of the Year in 2007, the Society of FSP honored her with a Kenneth Black Leadership Award in 2007, and the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils named her a Distinguished Accredited Estate Planner in 2006. Previously, the National Board on Child Welfare presented her with a Hines Award in 1986. She is a member of the Toledo Museum of Art Apollo Society, the Glass Art Society, the Art Alliance for Contemporary Glass, Mensa, and the Chautauqua Literary and Scientific Circle.
Ms. Hartmann has also been included in nearly 30 editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business, Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who of American Women. The former wife of James Cline Hartmann, who sadly passed away in 1970, she has since remarried Frank Snug.
