A 30-year veteran of injury law, Mr. VanDerGinst is the managing partner at VanDerGinst Law, PC. The focus of the law firm is on all areas of personal injury law, including but not limited to: workers compensation, product liability, medical malpractice, nursing home abuse and all types of negligence cases. VanDerGinst Law has offices throughout Illinois and Iowa and Mr. VanDerGinst has represented clients from almost every state in the country at one time or another. Born in Moline, Illinois, Mr. VanDerGinst completed his undergraduate work at Northern Illinois University in 1985, followed by a JD at DePaul University in 1989. He is admitted to practice in Illinois, Iowa, the United States District Courts for the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois and the Southern District of Iowa, and the Seventh Circuit of the U.S. Court of Appeals. Mr. VanDerGinst began his career working for two prominent insurance defense law firms in Chicago. He left Chicago to fulfill his dream of becoming a plaintiff's trial lawyer at another well respected firm, Braud/Warner, in the Quad Cities area. He soon became a partner and eventually was made managing partner in that office. That law firm evolved into its' current incarnation, VanDerGinst Law, in 2004.
Mr. VanDerGinst personally focuses his practice in the areas of economic and non-economic damages cases, such as personal injury litigation, product liability, medical malpractice, and mass torts. He previously taught as an adjunct professor of torts and insurance law at Black Haw College in the mid-1990s, and continues to speak at local, state, and national seminars and conventions. He has been a longstanding member of several professional organizations such as the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, the Illinois and Iowa State Bar Associations, and the Illinois and Iowa Trial Lawyers Association. Mr. VanDerGinst has served on the Board of Managers for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association, The Board of Advocates for AAJ and on the Board of Trustees for the Pound Civil Justice Institute. He has also authored several law related articles in a number of professional journals and magazines.
Recently honored by being named to the Nation's Top One Percent in 2017 by the National Association of Distinguished Counsel, Mr. VanDerGinst was named one of the top trial attorneys in the country by the American Trial Lawyers Association as well as the American Society of Legal Advocates. Avvo Inc. also honored him with a 2014 Client's Choice Award, and rated him 'Superb' with a 10/10 rating. He has been included in both Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Law. Married to Deana VanDerGinst, Mr. VanDerGinst is active in his community with organizations such as the Safe Kids Campaign, Jaycees, and AARP Volunteer Legal Review Program.
