NEW YORK, NY, October 31, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Lewis David Lowenfels with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Mr. Lowenfels celebrates many years' experience in his professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes he has accrued in his field. As in all Marquis Who's Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

An attorney who has specialized in corporate securities law for much of his legal career, Mr. Lowenfels studied at prestigious Harvard University, first earning a Bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in 1957, followed by an LLB in 1961. Mr. Lowenfels was elected to Phi Beta Kappa upon graduation from Harvard College in 1957. Admitted to practice by the New York Bar Association as a licensed attorney in 1961, Mr. Lowenfels later formed his own practice in 1967 as a partner of Tolins & Lowenfels in NYC. Enjoying an amazing career representing clients in securities and corporate law, this small boutique law firm specialized in transactional work, securities regulatory matters, and securities arbitration.

Originally inspired due to his interest in capital markets and securities, Mr. Lowenfels has stated that securities laws are at the center of the U.S. economic system and are essential to the prosperity and welfare of its citizens. Over the course of his 50-year long career at the firm, Mr. Lowenfels has represented many companies and individual clients in matters involving the Securities and Exchange Commission, various self-regulatory agencies, states securities commissions and U.S. Attorneys. Indeed, Mr. Lowenfels has been described by Forbes Magazine as "one of the best securities lawyers in the business" and is regularly quoted in the media regarding current legal issues.

Mr. Lowenfels has lectured for the Practicing Law Institute, the Southwestern Legal Foundation, and the University of Minnesota Federal Bar Association. He has also served as an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University Law School for over 30 years. A public governor of the American Stock Exchange from 1993 to 1996, Mr. Lowenfels continues to serve on the securities and exchanges committee of the New York County Lawyers Association, a responsibility he has held since 1974.

In addition to contributing many articles to professional journals in his field of expertise, Mr. Lowenfels co-authors "Bromberg and Lowenfels on Securities Fraud," an eight volume treatise considered the standard work in the field. These works have been quoted and cited hundreds of times over the years by the United States Supreme Court, the United States Circuit and District courts, and are currently utilized as reference works in major law firms. Mr. Lowenfels is a former lecturer and a current member of the federal regulation of securities committee of the American Bar Association and is an active member of both the Harvard Club and Phi Beta Kappa. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963.

Married to Fern Gelford since 1965 with two children, he has been named in close to 60 editions of Who's Who, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East, and Who's Who in the World. He was also pictured and quoted in the New York Times in March, 2012. This article spoke about the Harvard University varsity basketball team on which Mr. Lowenfels played in 1956. Turning down an invitation to play in that year's New Orleans Holiday Festival Tournament because the hosts insisted on separate facilities for the African-American player on the Harvard team, he and his teammates believed that it was necessary to speak out and act against racial prejudice.
