Born in Key West to Delmar M. and Lois Archer Eden, Mr. Eden studied with the University of Florida and earned a JD, magna cum laude, from Stetson University. He entered practice with Nelson, Stinnett, Surfus, et al in Sarasota, Florida. In 1970, Mr. Eden became a partner with Feldman and Eden and predecessors in Key West, transitioning to a private practice in 1984. He returned to collaborative practice in the firm of Browning, Eden, Sireci and Klitenick from 1999 to 2002. From 1982 to 1996, Mr. Eden served as of counsel with Lazzara and Paul, and in 2007, he was appointed special master to the 16th Judicial Circuit of the state of Florida.
Over many years of legal service, Mr. Eden has represented such clients as the playwright Tennessee Williams and two-time junior welterweight boxing champion Randall Bailey. Other notable clients include author of the Travis McGee novels John D. McDonald, composer Dick Duane, the Utility Board of the City of Key West, and the Tax Collector for Monroe County, Florida, both of whom Mr. Eden continues to represent. Mr. Eden has litigated cases in New Jersey, Illinois, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Louisiana, and all of Florida, representing personal injuries in railroad fatalities, motor vehicle cases, product liability, and premise liability. Notably, he represented the ex-sheriff of Pasco County against the St. Pete Times.
Mr. Eden is affiliated with numerous legal associations, notably the American Association for Justice, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and the judicial nominating committee of the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit of Monroe County. In his civic sphere, he is a noted past member of the Key West High School Scholarship Committee, and has served the Hospice/VNA of Monroe County and the Salvation Army. Since 2010, Mr. Eden has been a Eucharistic Minister and Lector with the Basilica of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church.
