He previously assisted the brokerage as a chief legal officer for the institutional division between 2002 and 2005. In an effort to remain active and aware of recent developments in the legal community, Mr. Ott maintains affiliation with the New York City Bar Association. He has been admitted to practice in New York since 1970.
Prior to pursuing a career in the legal arena, Mr. Ott received a Bachelor of Arts from Yale University in 1965. Upon recognizing his growing interest and potential in the field of law, he attended Columbia University, where he completed an MBA and JD in 1969. Early in his career, Mr. Ott served as an associate with Chadbourne, Parke, Whiteside & Wolff, as well as LeBoeuf, Lamb, Leiby & MacRae. He joined Kidder, Peabody & Co., Inc. in 1978 as an associate general counsel, assistant secretary and assistant vice president, and he was eventually recognized as a vice president, managing director and senior vice president with the firm.
In 1996, Mr. Ott accepted a role as executive vice president, general counsel and secretary with Rodman & Renshaw Capital Group, Inc. Between 1998 and 2002, he assisted as counsel with Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft, and as deputy general counsel with Datek Online Holdings Corporation. From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Ott served as chief legal officer of the Institutional division with TD Ameritrade Holding Corporation.
Throughout the course of his career, Mr. Ott has been featured in a wide range of honors publications, including Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in the East and Who's Who in the World. In addition, he was selected for inclusion in the first edition of Who's Who of Emerging Leaders in America, 24th through 33rd editions of Who's Who in Finance and Industry, and 34th through 37th editions of Who's Who in Finance and Business.
