Specializing in, as he describes it, "trouble", he has litigated cases in civil litigation areas of contracts, partnership dissolution, corporate dissolution, breach of trust, inverse condemnation, specific performance, easements, family law, and many other areas of contract, real estate, and business law.
Admitted to practice by the California State Bar in 1955, some of Mr. Burns' proudest accomplishments in his law practice included many interesting cases. Among those cases was his representation of James Garner against Universal Productions to collect his contractual share of profits from the series "The Rockford Files" and representation of entertainment personalities in contractual disputes such as The Eagles, George Harrison, Heart, Telly Savalas, Tom Petty, and more. In addition, Mr. Burns has represented real estate owners, builders, developers, lenders, borrowers, and contractors in disputes ranging from building the Century Plaza Hotel, home improvement, to asserting constitutional vested rights to develop property.
Mr. Burns is a widower, his wife of 60 years having passed away in 2014. He has three children, six grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Highlighted in every edition of Who's Who in America since 1987, he has also been included in Who's Who in Finance and Industry, the 6th through 16th editions of Who's Who in American Law, and numerous volumes of Who's Who in the West and Who's Who in the World. At the age of 87 years, Mr. Burns remains active.
