He served as a neurologist at Riverhills Neuroscience for 17 years before opening his own private practice, the Becker Neurological Institute, where he worked for 10 years. He returned to Riverhills Neuroscience in 2015, and has been working there as a neurologist for the past two years.
Dr. Becker has also served in academia, applying his expertise in neurology as an instructor in the Departments of Neurology and Pathology at John Hopkins Hospital from 1989 to 1990. Prior to serving the institute as a faculty member, he acted a research fellow in the Neuropathology Laboratory at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine from 1987 to 1988.
Dr. Becker graduated with a Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University in 1982. After graduating, he served as an intern in internal medicine at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital for one year. In 1986, he completed his residency in neurology at the hospital after serving for three years. He was certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He has also authored and co-authored numerous publications, and has served as principle investigator or co-investigator in numerous clinical studies.
Dr. Becker has been affiliated with the American Medical Association, the Ohio State Medical Association, the Kentucky Medical Association, the American Academy of Neurology, and the Academy of Medicine of Cincinnati. In addition, Dr. Becker is a founding member of the Commonwealth Neurological Society, served as a member of the board of directors, 2007-2015; and served as president from 2013 to 2014. He is recognized for his research and treatment in multiple sclerosis, headaches, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and epilepsy.
Dr. Becker has a son, John Becker, daughter, Kathryn, and two stepsons, Jordan and Jared Flood. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, golfing and fishing.
