For almost 30 years, Dr. Tenorio served the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital in Tampa, FL. From 1976 to 1990, Dr. Tenorio worked as the staff physician in nuclear medicine before being promoted to chief of nuclear medicine from 1990 to 2005. Prior to his work at the veterans' hospital, Dr. Tenorio worked as a staff physician in internal and nuclear medicine at the Hospital del Seguro Social in Panama from 1973 to 1976. After completing a two year internship and three year residentship in Internal Medicine (for which he was Chief Resident in Internal Medicine during the third year) from April 1966 to April 1971, he began his career as a fellow in nuclear medicine at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore from 1971 to 1973. Dr. Tenorio also worked as an intern at the Hospital Seguro Social after completing his doctorate in medicine.
Outside of his practical involvements in medicine, Dr. Tenorio has served the James A. Haley Veterans' Hospital as a member of the radiation safety committee since 1977, as a council member of the chief of services since 1990, and as the chairman of quality control in Florida since 1982. Dr. Tenorio is a member of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, the American College of Nuclear Cardiology, and the Tampa West Chapter of Rotary. He is a former member of the American College of Nuclear Physicians. Additionally, he is also board certified in nuclear medicine.
Dr. Tenorio graduated from the University of Panama College of Medicine with a Doctor in Medicine in 1966. He continued his studies as a post graduate student at The Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, completing his coursework in 1973. As a reputable member of his industry, Dr. Tenorio has been featured in the 5th and 6th editions of Who's Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
The son of Silvestre and Alicia Tenorio, he has been married to Leyda Judith Cuevas for 50 years. They have three children together: Lyzabeth Yanire, Lyneth Alicia, and Lissette del Carmen. In his spare time, he enjoys water coloring, carpentry, music, and studying astronomy and Italian language. Traveling is one of their favorite pleasures.
