HOWICK, SOUTH AFRICA, November 17, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Ms. Alison Engelbrecht, Ali as she prefers to be called, has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Ms. Engelbrecht is the Chief Executive Officer of Women in Business (WIB) - a not for profit social entrepreneur organization which offers entrepreneurial women a networking and linkages platform. Ms Engelbrecht is the founding member of WIB. She has led the organization since its inception in July 2005. From 1998 to 2013, she was self-employed at Ali Cat's Accounting and Business Services. Prior to this she held the title of Vice Principal with the Department of Education at Dabulamanzi Combined Schools in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa from 1992 to 1998.
This was a memorable time in the history of South Africa. Five rural farm schools, were amalgamated to form one formal school from entry to exit level for politically disadvantaged learners. From 1982 to 1991, she was a Senior Lecturer in the Commercial Department of Plessislaer Technical College. This was at the beginning of the movement in South Africa to offer Tertiary Education to the disadvantaged sector of South Africa. Ali began her career in 1980 as a teacher at the Carter High School in KwaZulu-Natal. Currently Ali, is the Vice Principal Academic at the IIE's Varsity College in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. She previously served the college as an Academic Development Coordinator in 2014, as a Full Time Lecturer from 2011 to 2013, and as an Independent contractor in 2010.
Ms. Engelbrecht received a Higher Diploma in Education from the University of KwaZulu-Natal in 1980, and completed her Honours in Education, from the University of South Africa in 2014. She is licensed to practice as a Tax Technician and is a member of the professional body known as (SAIT) South African Institute of Tax Technicians. She is also a member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and Accountants (ICBA), the Pastel Bookkeepers Forum, the Finance and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training (FASSET), and the South African Council for Educators (SACE). Ms Engelbrecht is a registered tax practitioner with the South African Revenue Service (SARS). In addition, she is an Executive Director of the Pietermaritzburg Chamber of Business (PCB). For her outstanding contributions to her industry, she was named one of South Africa's Most Influential Women in Business and Government (Social Welfare Sector) and was recognized as a Pioneer in the Field of Entrepreneurship at the Women's Pioneer Summit. Ali is a mentor of the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women.
Ms. Engelbrecht lives by the words of Zig Ziglar, who states, "You will get all you want in life, if you help other people get what they want." She attributes her success to the encouragement her mentors have given her throughout her career and in believing in the entrepreneurial ability of women, specifically in the rural areas of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa. She is passionate about educating and encouraging entrepreneurial women to step outside of the mold created for them by society. Over the next five years, she hopes to become more politically active in the fight for women's rights in the workplace.
