She is a principal author of 'Income Taxation of Trusts' in the Illinois Institute of Continuing Legal Education Handbook "Trust Administration," and the author of "Protecting Family Assets" in the IICLE Handbook "Asset Protection Planning." She has also written and spoken extensively on estate planning topics throughout her career.
Highlighted in Who's Who in America and Who's Who in American Law, Ms. Montgomery was named a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estates Counsel in 2004. She completed her undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, at the University of Southern California in 1973 after previously studying at the University of Dublin in Ireland. She then completed a JD at Stanford University in 1976.
Ms. Montgomery is an adjunct professor at Northwestern University's Pritzer School of Law, where she teaches Income Taxation of Trusts and Estates. The course examines the rules of federal income taxation of trusts and their beneficiaries and grantors and decedent's estates.
