Olivia Ann Ferrante Presented with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award by Marquis Who's Who

    REVERE, MA, December 01, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Marquis Who's Who, the world's premier publisher of biographical profiles, is proud to present Olivia Ann Ferrante with the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. An accomplished listee, Ms. Ferrante celebrates many years' experience in her professional network, and has been noted for achievements, leadership qualities, and the credentials and successes she has accrued in her field. Now retired, Ms. Ferrante spent more than 20 years serving the visually impaired community. In the early 1970s, she spent three years as the chairman of the braille department at the National Braille Press in Boston. Afterwards, she began teaching the visually impaired at Revere High School and other schools, where she remained for 18 years until 1992. She continues to serve as a consultant for the Revere Parent Teacher Association, a position she has held since 1984. Ms. Ferrante earned an undergraduate degree at Regis College in 1970, Master of Education at Boston College in 1971, and postgraduate work at Boston College, Middlebury College, and Lesley College. She is a certified history teacher and certified teacher of the blind. During Ms. Ferrante's career, she has authored numerous articles in her field.

Ms. Ferrante has also been active in volunteer work for many years. She worked with Morgan Memorial and knitted for their program, and has been a member of the Revere Committee for Handicapped Affairs. Ms. Ferrante has also served as a mentor for the National Braille Literary Project and the Vision Foundation, and has served on the mobility advisory board for the Massachusetts Committee for the Blind. Notably, she has given to the Immaculate Conception Church in Revere, and suggested to the town council that brighter sodium lights were necessary on her street. Her previous queries were successful at prompting Revere to install audible pedestrian signals a the Revere City Hall and opening a police station in her neighborhood. One of Ms. Ferrante's letters resulted in the first installation in Massachusetts of descriptive video for the blind and closed captioning for the deaf at her local movie theater.

In addition to her wealth of community service, Ms. Ferrante has been a longstanding member of numerus organizations relative to both education and her specific field of expertise, some of which include the National Education Association, the Massachusetts Teachers Association, the Revere Teachers Association, and the National Catholic Association for Persons with Visual Impairment. She has also been affiliated with numerous organizations relative to history, such as the Revere Society for Cultural and Historical Preservation, where she is a lifetime member and former publicist, vice president, and chairman of the grants committee, as well as the Chelsea Historic Society, and the Massachusetts Aviation Historical Society.

Born in Revere, the same town in which she spent the bulk of her career, Ms. Ferrante has been highlighted in many editions of Who's Who. She has been included in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in American Education, Who's Who in the East, Who's Who of American Women, and Who's Who of Emerging Leaders of America.
