LAS VEGAS, NV, December 08, 2017 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. James Cazier has been included in Marquis Who's Who. Dr. Cazier has served as a teacher at the Northwest Career and Technical Academy of Las Vegas since 2013, and currently teaches tenth grade advanced placement world history and honors world history. He is the Key Club Honor Society Advisor of the 2017 to 2018 school year, advisor of the Bible Club, and has been the department chair of social studies in this school and several others, among other notable roles. Dr. Cazier was also chosen during the 2016 to 2017 school year to be a mentor and facilitator of teachers seeking their National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Certificate in Social Studies-History from the Clark County Education Association. Dr. Cazier has been teaching in Nevada since 1995, and was nominated for the Clark County School District Heart of Education Teaching Award in 2015 and 2016. He was recognized with several RAVE Review Awards by the Northwest Career and Technical Academy, Western High School, and the Clark County School District since 2012, and achieved two United States Achievement Academy Social Science National Commemorative Certificate Awards in 2012 and 2015.
Dr. Cazier earned a BA in education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1993, followed by an MA in 1994. He received an EdS in school administration from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2000, and was certified as a teacher of social studies- history by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards in 2006. In 2011, he earned a doctorate in teacher leadership from Walden University, followed by accreditations from George Mason University, Johns Hopkins University, Biola University, Arizona State University, and the National Board for Certified Teachers in Social Studies-History, recertified in 2016. Dr. Cazier holds an Albert IO Level 1 Certificate in interactive computer learning platforms, and is currently working on a Google Educator certification, as well as Edx and Coursera online course certifications from Harvard University, the University of Texas at Austin, the University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, and other venerable institutions.
As an educator, Dr. Cazier initially taught in Carson City, NV as a coordinator and teacher of emotionally challenged and special education students. There, he received a 1997 Light of Education Award from the Ormsby County Educational Association and his fellow peers and administrators for outstanding teaching. He also earned a 1997 National Middle School Outstanding Teaching Award by the Oregon and California Trails Association. Dr. Cazier was promoted to an assistant principal position at Fritsch Elementary School in 2000. He taught seventh grade geography with Carson Middle School from 1998 to 2001, and held numerous roles, including coach of the affiliated Carson High School's varsity and junior ski teams and the Pop Warner Hawk Football Team. He was also a symposium facilitator at the Carson High School and Carson-Tahoe Hospital Conference for childhood depression and ADHD. Dr. Cazier also received his level one educator certificate for coaching alpine skiing from the United States Ski Coaches Association in 1998. He worked with Cashman Middle School in Las Vegas from 2001 to 2002 as a special education teacher for the emotionally handicapped, and was promoted to the position of dean of students during the 2002 to 2003 school year at Greenspun Junior High School. Dr. Cazier was selected to assist in the opening of the Ralph Cadwallader Middle School in 2004, where he also served as department chair of the social science department. He moved to South Carolina and taught from 2006 to 2009 before returning to Las Vegas. Before his current position, Dr. Cazier was an instructor to master's degree students for Touro University School of Education, in Henderson, NV.
Dr. Cazier has accrued numerous awards and nominations for awards, some of them from his students. He is a member of the Archaeological Institute of America, the Biblical Archaeology Society, the Organization of American Historians, and the National Council for the Social Studies. He is also an active member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Alumni Association. Dr. Cazier was also inducted into several prestigious honor societies including Phi Delta Kappa for his work in history, Gamma Theta Upsilon for geography, and the Order of Omega Greek Honor Society at the University of Northern Colorado. He is also a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society, where he was inducted during his doctoral studies at Walden University. Dr. Cazier also was inducted into The National Society of Collegiate Scholars from the University of Nevada, Reno, and continues to take on an active role as a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. He was also a chartering founding member of the Gamma Sigma Alpha honor society of the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Cazier was nominated for Social Studies Teacher of the Year by his peers and administrators at Ralph Cadwallader Middle School as well as the Social Studies Council of Nevada for the 2003 to 2004 school year. When asked about his success, he notes that he loves teaching and helping students succeed in their studies. Dr. Cazier explained that when students see him achieving goals, he becomes not just an instructor but a positive role model for his students to achieve their goals as well.
