In order to remain alert of changes in the field, he is affiliated with the Modern Language Association, the International Society for Humor Studies, and the Shakespeare Association of America. Beginning in the early 1960s, he has authored a variety works on Shakespeare, including "Shakespeare's Roman Plays," "Style in Hamlet," "How to Read Shakespeare," "Comedy High and Low," "Sexual Fiction," "Hamlet's Fictions," and "All of Shakespeare." Notably, he has been recognized numerous times for his professional accomplishments, having been named to two volumes of Who's Who in Entertainment.
