Ms. Dalimonte graduate from St. Elizabeth's Hospital School of Nursing in Brighton, MA in 1962. At the age of 45, she went back to college and completed a graduate program at the University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver in 1985. She acquired a degree as a pediatric nurse practitioner and school nurse practitioner.
In 1963, Ms. Dalimonte married her best friend, Anthony Dalimonte. Over the next ten years they had four children, John, Denise, Mark, and Susan. Her life became quite busy, and her professional life was put on hold. In those years Ms. Dalimonte became invested in her family and community, and was an active member of the Stoneham PTA. She volunteered as a health educator at St. Patricks School in Stoneham, was a court advocate in a child custody case, volunteered for the Red Cross, and was a visiting resource for a foster child in Department of Social Services custody.
In her professional life, Ms. Dalimonte worked as a staff nurse at Malden Hospital's surgical floor. She was a private duty nurse at the Massachusetts General Hospital on the weekends when her children were very young, and worked as a college health nurse at Boston University, where she was introduced to the role of nurse practitioner. Ms. Dalimonte decided that she wanted to pursue nursing, and discovered a program that would fit into her life. The summer program at the University of Colorado offered a course geared to school and college health nurses. She spent three months studying, from June to September, for two years in a row. The program required Ms. Dalimonte to have a physician preceptor and to complete many projects to enhance her education while holding down a fulltime job in nursing. She also worked at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA and the Shriver Center in Waltham, MA, caring for children with disabilities.
Invested in her community, Ms. Dalimonte was born in Boston and spent her entire career in Massachusetts. She is a former member of the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Nurses and was a liturgical minister at St. Patrick's Church for 11 years. Ms. Daliented sang in church, performed in church shows, and appeared in community theatre. She is an accomplished pianist, and placed as one of the 14 finalists in the 2014 Ms. Senior Florida Pageant. Ms. Dalimonte and her husband have retired to Cape Cod, MA and Florida, where she still enjoys an active lifestyle. She volunteers and plays the piano in the Villages Hospital lobby, and also plays the mandolin. She sings with a folk group on a weekly basis.
