With 30 years of industry experience to his credit, Mr. Fortenberry is currently working for Manchac Consulting Group, Inc. (Manchac), where he has been working since 2015. He is currently working for Manchac as a Senior Operations Consultant and a Water Treatment Division Manager. During his tenure with Manchac, he has also served as their Webmaster, while continuing to fulfill his utility consulting and management responsibilities. Previously, Mr. Fortenberry held multiple positions within the City of Shreveport Government, including working in the position of Water Treatment Division manager from 2008 to 2012, Water Treatment Plant Manager from 2005 to 2008, Water Treatment Plant Assistant Superintendent from 2003 to 2005, Chief Operations Manager at the water treatment plant from 1997 to 2003, Operations Manager from 1996 to 1997, and served the City of Shreveport in various other critical roles dating back to the 1980s.
While embarking on his professional career path, Mr. Fortenberry pursued an education at Louisiana Tech University, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, with cum laude distinction. He completed his academic efforts at Centenary College of Louisiana, Frost School of Business, receiving an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree. During his career, Mr. Fortenberry also pursued and obtained the highest levels of certification in all disciplines of Water and Wastewater Facility Operation. These accreditations were issued to him by the State of Louisiana's Office of Public Health, Engineering Section. Furthermore, and during this period, and the use of an AED through National Traffic Incident Management Responder Training, as well as Water and Wastewater Facility Operation by the Department of Health in Louisiana. Furthermore, Mr. Fortenberry was issued a lifetime commission status as a Common Law Notary Public in the State of Louisiana by Governor Buddy Roamer.
In addition to his career endeavors, Mr. Fortenberry remains affiliated with various organizations in relation to his areas of expertise. He is currently a member of the American Society for Public Administration, the American Water Works Association, the Water Distribution System Professionals Group, the Louisiana Conference on Water Supply, Sewerage, and Industrial Wastes, and the Water Industry Process and Control Group. He has also maintained membership with the Water Purification Industry Professionals, Water and Wastewater Professionals, the Operations Managers Group and Urban Water Security Group. Additionally, Mr. Fortenberry is affiliated with the Centenary College of Louisiana Alumni Association, the Louisiana Tech Alumni Association, the American Society of Notaries, and the Louisiana Private Investigators Association.
Beyond his efforts and positive impact within the field of science and engineering, Mr. Fortenberry has also contributed to numerous institutions outside of his professional circles. He currently maintains his status as a licensed private investigator in the State of Louisiana and continues to serve the citizens of Caddo Parish in the capacity of a Caddo Parish Deputy Sheriff in their auxiliary unit. Mr. Fortenberry has also participated as a speaker within various webinars including ones where he provided insight on cyber security. Mr. Fortenberry participated in the development of a session entitled "Ozonation Removal of Drinking Water Tastes and Odors for a High TOC Water" that was presented at the 2008 Annual Conference of the International Ozone Association-Pan American Group, has served as a contributor to the Bathymetric Survey of Cross Lake and has contributed to a related survey entitled "Water Quality and Bottom Material Characteristics of Cross Lake." The study was co-funded by the United States Geological Society and the City of Shreveport. Cross Lake is the source water for the City of Shreveport's drinking water system. Mr. Fortenberry has also offered his knowledge and efforts to training videos, including as a speaker in "Underground and Under Attack: A Video about Shreveport's Water & Sewage Aged Infrastructure Problems" and he also has a significant role in an educational video, distributed worldwide and produced by the Chlorine Institute, "Chlorine Safety for Water and Wastewater Operators."
In light of his exceptional undertakings, Mr. Fortenberry has accrued numerous accolades and honors throughout his impressive career. Honored as a Special Deputy Marshal by the City of Shreveport's City Marshal, he has further received the Award for Service Excellence from former Shreveport Mayor Cedric Glover. Moreover, Mr. Fortenberry has been presented with a Who's Who Distinction Award from Stanford Who's Who, an organization that also recognizes professionals who have greatly impacted their career field.
